OpenAI is introducing new tools to help researchers study the authenticity of online content and joining the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA) Steering Committee. As generative AI becomes more prevalent for creating and editing images, videos, and audio, it will be increasingly important to have technical standards for tracing the origin of content. OpenAI aims to develop technical solutions for this challenge that put power in the hands of people while protecting individual privacy. So, I was looking through my subscribed bowls on Glassdoor and came across this funny reply in one of the posts about AI. It didn't surprise me that someone joked about their company building an AI called Skynet. What surprised me is the number of comments from people implying that they've somewhat considered building Skynet or wouldn't care if something like it came into being. Regardless, the only reason I am posting a link to this reply and the comments is that one of the comments contains a link to a chat someone had with Google's Gemini Ultra about what the antithesis to Skynet would be like and how it would be built. Microsoft is training a new AI language model, MAI-1, to compete with Google and OpenAI. The project is led by Mustafa Suleyman, a former Google DeepMind co-founder. MAI-1 is larger than Microsoft's previous models and requires a significant amount of resources to train. The model is being developed using Nvidia's GPUs and a large dataset. I want to upscale and generally improve a bunch of old family films. What tools should I consider? it's probably close to 100 films, each between 1 and 2 hours long. I prefer free options, but I don't mind paying if it's a reasonable pricing model.
